How to check a PDF's page size
Choose a PDF locally and inspect every page, not only page one. The dashboard measures the selected page-box basis in points, then converts it deterministically to millimetres and inches for review and reporting.
Why one PDF can contain different page dimensions
Reports can include foldouts, inserts, scanned pages or production sections with different dimensions. Mixed page dimensions detected means the measured structure varies; it does not mean that a differing page must be incorrect.
MediaBox, CropBox, TrimBox, BleedBox and ArtBox explained
MediaBox is the full physical page boundary. CropBox is normally clipped for viewing or printing. TrimBox is the finished size after trimming, BleedBox extends beyond trim for bleed, and ArtBox identifies meaningful artwork where present.
How standard sizes such as A4, Letter and Legal are identified
The catalogue compares both portrait and landscape dimensions using a visible tolerance. A similar aspect ratio alone is never enough to call a page A4 or Letter, and near-standard pages keep their measured deviation visible.
Why mixed page sizes can affect printing
Mixed dimensions may require paper tray, scaling, imposition or submission review. A landscape foldout in a portrait document can be intentional, so this tool separates internal consistency evidence from a claim about universal print acceptance.
How page rotation changes effective dimensions
Raw page-box width and height remain in the PDF structure. A 90 or 270 degree rotation swaps the effective displayed width and height, which the tool reports separately so equivalent rotated pages do not become false size outliers.
What near-standard dimensions mean
A near-standard page is close to a catalogue size but outside the selected tolerance. Scanning, conversion or authoring may contribute, but the inspector reports measurable evidence rather than assigning a cause.
How local PDF inspection protects confidential documents
The parser loads only the PDF you choose in this browser session. There is no upload, database, browser storage, remote OCR or document-text extraction, and the original PDF is never modified.
What this tool does not check
It does not determine visual design quality, extract text, verify embedded fonts, resize or repair pages, or guarantee acceptance by a printer, publisher, court, portal or submission system.

How do I check the page size of a PDF?
Choose a local PDF, select Inspect PDF, then review the page register. The inspector measures every page on the selected CropBox, MediaBox or TrimBox basis and displays dimensions in millimetres, inches or points.
Can one PDF contain different page sizes?
Yes. A PDF can contain different page dimensions, orientations and page boxes. This may be intentional for foldouts, inserts or production pages, so a difference requires review rather than proving a defect.
How do I tell whether a PDF is A4 or Letter?
The inspector compares the measured, rotation-adjusted page dimensions with a catalogue of standard sizes. It displays the nearest size and the width and height deviation using the visible selected tolerance.
Why is my PDF slightly smaller than A4?
A near-standard size can result from scanning, conversion or authoring choices. The tool shows the measurement and deviation, but cannot establish the cause for a particular document.
What is the difference between MediaBox and CropBox?
MediaBox defines the full physical page boundary. CropBox defines the region normally clipped for viewing or printing. A difference does not by itself establish that visible content is lost.
What are TrimBox and BleedBox?
TrimBox is the intended finished size after trimming. BleedBox extends beyond the trim boundary for bleed. They are optional PDF boxes and are reported only where the parser provides an effective value.
Does page rotation change the PDF page size?
Rotation does not rewrite the raw box dimensions, but 90 and 270 degree page rotation swaps the effective displayed width and height. The inspector reports both values to avoid false outliers.
Can mixed PDF page sizes cause printing problems?

Does a consistent result guarantee print or submission acceptance?
No. This inspection identifies measurable PDF structure and consistency differences. It does not guarantee acceptance by a printer, publisher, court, portal or submission system. Check the requirements of the receiving organisation.
